How I Get Rid of Dandruff
I’m someone who’s had dandruff for many years and every now and again, I’m often surprised by a very unpleasant sight of dandruff on my head whenever I’m stressed out and having black hair, it can be very noticeable. Having recently gone to the hair salon to get it treated, I decided to actually notice what products and techniques they used so that I don’t always have to keep going to the salon every time my scalp acts up.
There are two shampoos that I use to treat my scalp. The first one I use it the Kerastase Bain Exfoliant Hydrant. This helps remove any flakes on your scalp. The other one I use is the Redken Dandruff Control Shampoo and I use this to clear any remaining flakes and of course, clean my hair.
I start off by using the Kerastase Bain Exfoliant Hydrant shampoo first. I put this on my hair dry. This shampoo comes with a sort of nozzle end so applying this directly to roots and sections of your hair is easy. I then massage the shampoo onto my scalp for about 2-4 minutes, really getting the shampoo to the affected areas. You don’t want to leave this on your scalp for too long as you can irritate your scalp. After massaging, I rinse the shampoo off.
Once rinsed, I then go in with the Redken Dandruff Control Shampoo to help remove any remaining flakes and to sooth my scalp. I mainly focus this shampoo on my hair rather than my roots. You can leave the shampoo in your hair for about 5 minutes, but I prefer to rinse right away as I’d gone in with another shampoo already.
Now, something I do to help my dandruff stay away is to blow dry my hair after washing which is something I never do as I always let my hair air dry. I find that my scalp goes clearer after blow drying than air drying.
If you find you still have dandruff afterwards, wash your hair for the next few days just using the Redken Dandruff Control Shampoo as this is a more gentle shampoo than the Kerastase Bain Exfoliant Hydrant.
What are your tips to clearing you’re scalp and any shampoo’s that you use that work wonders? And if you do end up trying these shampoos and tips, let me know how
