BOTM + Review – The Fault In Our Stars

With the movie have been released in June, it seemed fitting to makes this book the book of the month for August. If you enjoyed the movie but haven’t read the book. I highly recommend you do because you get to read and know more about the characters you saw on screen and of course, there’s a lot more scenes and details with Hazel and Augustus that wasn’t put in the movie.

The story is about two teenagers who both have cancer. Hazel, the protagonist suffers from thyroid cancer that has spread to her lungs and Augustus suffered from Augustus had osteosarcoma which lead to the amputation of his left leg and is now cancer free. Hazel and Augustus meet at a cancer support group and from there, their friendship and love interest blossom.

When I first had picked up this book, there wasn’t a lot of hype around the book like there is today so I didn’t really know that is was going to be sad. Only that a few people found the book good and it caught my interest. But when I started reading it, I sort of guessed what happened in the end which any person might deep down but you secretly hope the author didn’t take that route.

If you’re looking for a book that will make you smile, then sure, this does that but it also makes you cry. This book is full of emotions. It will keep you griped to the book, wondering what will happen next to the characters.

All in all, this story is focused on two teenagers with cancer but the story isn’t just about their cancer. It’s about them going on an adventure and discovering themselves and each other.
